šŸ’™ Memorial Day Weekend Reflections & Summer Sewing Plans šŸ’™

I love Memorial Day weekend. Everything feels like it slows down just a bit—we get that extra day, the start of summer energy, and time for the things that matter most. ā˜€ļøļø We remember our country and the sacrifices so many Americans have made for us to enjoy the day

Summer brings barbecues, pool days, family vacations… and a shift in our everyday routines. It’s the perfect time to pause and really look at our projects.

In years past, I would make long lists of everything I wanted to sew, buy all the fabric with the best intentions… only to find those same projects still untouched when fall rolled around.

This summer, I’m choosing something different.

Instead of focusing on starting more, I’m focusing on finishing and mending:

  • A dress for an upcoming cruise
  • Sewing on buttons and fixing hems that need a little love
  • Working on a patriotic quilt šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø
  • Repairing some furniture fabric that’s taken a hit from pets

I’m shifting away from the pressure of ā€œbeing busyā€ and moving toward something more meaningful—slow sewing. Taking time to enjoy the process, not just the result.

This season, it’s about balance: ✨ Family time
✨ Vacations
✨ And sewing in a way that feels calm, intentional, and satisfying

No long, overwhelming lists—just a few thoughtful projects and the joy of making space for what really matters.

What are you sewing (or mending) this summer? 🧵

Happy Sewing,

Valerie
