I’m making steady progress on my quilt, even if it’s been slower than I expected. I truly thought I’d be farther along by now — until I had a little moment of realization. I finally sat down and counted the pieces, and each square has 72 pieces. Seventy‑two! No wonder this project has taken more time and patience than I planned.
Once I saw that number, everything clicked. I actually felt better about myself and the pace I’ve been moving. Between the tiny pieces, the careful trimming, and trying to balance work, it makes perfect sense that this quilt is growing slowly. But slow doesn’t mean unproductive — it means intentional.
I do really like the soft look of this patriotic quilt now that the pieces are coming together. It’s turning out so pretty with the pink and the different shades of blue. The designer truly came up with a beautiful way to bring these colors together, and seeing it take shape has made me appreciate the pattern even more.
The challenging part of this quilt was just getting everything to line up. Because of some earlier mistakes, the ends of the fabric had unraveled, which made it even harder to match seams and keep things straight. No, this quilt will not be perfect — but I’m beginning to see the end, and that feels wonderful.
The exciting part is that I’m down to one last square. One more block, and this quilt top will be finished. Even with the extra time it’s taken, I’m reminded that quilts like this are worth every minute.
