New Year and New Goals

Happy Saturday –

I am looking forward to the New Year and new goals. 2021 was a tough year but I am pressing forward to new opportunities.

I usually have several different categories that I try to set goals. My first is my spiritual goals and then I have goals that I would love to accomplish with my family, physical, mental, financial and then of course my sewing goals.

In years past, I have always made such a big goals but never set a plan on how I was going to accomplish them This year, I have set daily habits so that I can meet my large goals. I read a book by Stephen Guise, Mini Habits. In the book he recommended small goals that no matter the day that you could accomplish them. Overtime, these habits become instilled in you and if you can put in additional time go ahead but if not you still suceed because you completed the habit.

As we all know small things can add up fast over time. Let’s say you decided that you will sew every day for 15 minutes, over a week this is 105 minutes. This is so much better than going several weeks and not sewing or accomplishing any other goals because you didn’t have several hours to sit down and work on your latest project.

Of course, your goals do not have to be sewing related, maybe it is to read a certain amount of pages in a book, showing kindness to a stranger, write notes of encouragement, drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. The list can go on and on. These goals do not have to be big but if you complete the daily goals, you will accomplish the big ones.

Here are my goals for sewing –

  • Sew at least 15 minutes a day
  • Post weekly
  • Complete at least 4 videos
  • Upgrade my current wardrobe
  • Organize my patterns
  • Attend two sewing classes virtual or in person
  • Complete at least two sewing challenges

Let me know what goals that you have for the upcoming year.

Valerie
