Happy Saturday! I hope you and your family are doing well. We’ve had several days of rain here in Florida — rain we truly needed. The weather has been perfect lately, just cool enough in the mornings for a light jacket and settling into the low 70s by afternoon. I’m really trying to soak up these days because they never stay long, and those much warmer temperatures are already on their way.
Well… I finally finished putting this quilt top together!
The leaves ended up being another round of snowballing I didn’t originally count on, but after doing 540 snowballed corners earlier in the quilt, the extra sixteen felt like nothing. Still, this quilt took much longer than I expected. The smaller pieces, the constant marking of diagonal lines, the trimming, the cutting, the pressing — it all added up.
But standing back and looking at it now, I truly believe it turned out beautiful.

My next step will be quilting it. I already have the backing — a soft blue that should blend perfectly with the blues and yellows in the Primrose.
This quilt definitely required perseverance. There were moments when the slow progress discouraged me, but now that the top is finished, I feel such a sense of accomplishment.
🌼 If you ever get discouraged on a long project, here are a few things that help me keep going:
- Remember it’s not a race. This is a hobby you love, not a deadline to beat.
- Look at your fabrics again. Imagine how beautiful the finished quilt will be.
- Make your sewing space enjoyable. Turn on music, an audiobook, or a favorite show — whatever keeps you company while you sew.
Will I make another quilt like this? Absolutely — but next time, a much smaller one.
I’d love to hear from you. What do you do to stay motivated when a project feels like it will never end?
Happy Sewing, Valerie
