Happy Sewing –
Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas. The holidays can bring such joy. It is nice to be with family and enjoy all that the season has to offer. My personal favorite is how my schedule slows down and I have time to think and plan.
At this time of the year, I start reviewing how did the year go? How can I make 2026 be better? What do I need to change in my routines to be more successful? What sidetracked me?
Did I reach all my goals? No I didn’t but I did finish some of them. Even though, I wasn’t 100% successful, I still believe in the power of goals.
Sometime this week, I will take my planner, tea and sit down and map my 2026 goals. I want to push myself in my sewing skills. My focus is to continue to improve my skills.
Here are some examples of sewing goals. Set aside a specific time to sew daily. Attend sewing classes either in person or online. Layout the projects you want to finish for the quarter or the year. Plan a capsule wardrobe and sew the garments needed for your wardrobe.
Learning doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. The best part of the internet is that there are many free videos available. They can teach you anything you want to learn. Also , the library can be another free resource. I have books that I have requested from the inter library.

This past fall, I purchased a longarm and have been practicing on fabric and scraps of batting. It has been a little intimidating learning some of the different techniques.
On my next post, I will talk about the machine that I purchased. I will also discuss some of the tools that I have bought to help me learn.
What are some of my goals this year? I am hoping to improve my free motion quilting. I plan to make several garments for my wardrobe. I also want to sew for the grandchildren and do some creative embroidery for home decor. I will put in my planner more specific goals and what steps are needed.
What are your goals? I would love to hear them.
Happy Sewing
