Happy Saturday,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your friends and family. We had a great holiday with our family. I am always reminded of how much I have to be grateful. It is hard to believe that we are now in the Christmas holidays.
Do you love Black Friday? We do. I know that it has been stretched out over a whole week. It is fun shopping with my family. We find gifts and also discover a few extra things for ourselves. We are trying to find the best bargains that are available.
This is the first Black Friday since the closing of Joann’s. I do miss the savings on quilting tools and fabric savings. This opens up opportunities for the quilting and apparel shops. Yes, you will not get the financial savings that we are used to. However, I believe the relationship you make with small businesses provides benefits for you as the consumer. You can learn a lot by talking to the store owners. They are usually very open to providing tips and have classes on the sewing trends.

Another reason to shop small, is too keep the sewing community alive and well. If these small shops close, it it makes it harder to find the fabrics or tools that you want. If you have an issue with your sewing machine, you can go in to the shop and talk to someone. If we loose the stores, we lose the personal touch that these shops offer. These owners took a chance that the community would support their sewing shop. We as Sewists need to support them.
Let me know your thoughts on supporting the small businesses.
Happy Sewing,
Valerie
