Who doesn’t like a light jacket to wear for slightly cooler weather. This is usually all we get in Florida. We may have a month or two with temperatures in the 30’s but it doesn’t last long. My biggest problem is going into a meeting and the AC is set too low for my taste.
I purchased this lightweight jacket about a year ago from Walmart. It was perfect because it was not too heavy but gave the perfect amount of warmth for cooler days. I had laid it on the couch and my dog Milo decided he needed to add his own touch to the jacket. He put in two small holes. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and had stopped wearing it.
To cover the holes, I decided to try to embroidery design directly over the holes. The design came from Embroidery Designs. I wanted to make sure the holes were covered so I flipped the design in the software and then printed it out. Laid the design on the jacket to strategically cover those holes. Set the center of the design on the machine at the center of the printed out design.
Below are the pictures before and after.

The design sewed out beautifully and now I can utilize the jacket again. This project really was nice because the only cost was the design. The jacket has now been kept from the landfills and able to wear it again. I had everything else on hand, so the cost was minimal.
I have actually done this before. My prior employer provided us beautiful pull over jackets with their logo embroidered on them. Since I no longer worked for the company, I decided to take out the prior employer logo and embroider right over it. The logo had a lot of stitches so I utilized Peggy’s Stitch Eraser to remove the stitches. When utilizing this, you really need to utilize caution because you can put a hole in the garment. This was a slow process but so worth it when it was done. Below is a picture of the finished results.

What are some things that you have done to find new life to clothes?
Happy Sewing,
