Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday. It is a very beautiful day in Florida with the temperatures reaching to the 80’s. March and April usually bring us such beautiful weather.
Since Spring is here for us Floridians, I started a vertical garden and also making plans to change the landscape in the front yard. I am hoping to incorporate more flowers like gardenias and azaleas.
The vertical planter has already taken a tumble due a very curious cat, so I repotted the soil and planted the seeds again. It will be interesting to see what will emerge in the next couple of weeks. I am wondering if seeds were mixed when it hit the ground. Time will only tell
In preparation for Easter, I started working on my Easter dress. The pattern for the dress is Simplicity 1537 which is a part of the Amazing Fit Collection. I love this line because you can fit the dress to your specific needs instead of one size fits all or a lot of a time altering.
The fabric was purchased in Georgia at Fine Fabrics, last Fall. The mustard yellow is one of my new favorite colors.

As you will see from the picture below, the front and back of the dress are together, but I need to put in the invisible zipper, sleeves, and definitely hemming. At this point, the princess seams have come together beautifully, and I am loving the dropped waistline. In order to get everything lined up, it was pinned in place and then baste stitched in. Once the basting was in place, I went back and serged the seams.

When fitting the dress, it was a little big in the waist and sleeves. The dress was taken up in 1/2 in the sides and in the shoulders. The shoulders being taken up usually helps keep the neckline from sagging.
The next challenge will be putting in the invisible zipper and making sure the waistline matches in the back.
