Happy Saturday –
In Florida, we do not have a vibrant fall season. So, when we traveled to the mountains in October, I just love seeing the old barns and the trees filled with the vibrant colors. The barns with the rustic look and quilt squares are so beautiful. It is believed that these quilt squares started in Pennsylvania to let the American troops know that the area is safe and there are supplies.

When I saw this panel, I knew that it was coming home with me. The panel and the quilt design are from Riley Blake Designs. I purchased it and some of the fabric at Fabrics Galore and Quilting Store in Blairsville, GA. The staff was very helpful and gave suggestions on alternate fabric since some of the coordinating fabric was sold out. I purchased what I could and utilized fabric from my stash and my local quilting store.
As we all know the longest part is just cutting out the pieces. I labeled each cut to try to avoid any confusion especially when some of the cuts looked very similar. The pattern was well written. In my excitement to see this quilt almost done, I utilized my binding for the inner border. The good thing is that had not cut out the backing fabric.
Overall, I am pleased with this quilt. I may go back and do some additional stippling because I love the way it looks.

Hope you are enjoying the fall season before we jump into the Christmas season. The weather still may be warm, but we can still enjoy our apple cider and pumpkin drinks.
Let me know what your favorite part of fall is. What activities do you enjoy doing during this season.
Happy Sewing,
Valerie
