Barn Star Quilt

Happy Saturday –

I apologize that I have been out of pocket for the last several months. The summer months have just been so busy. It is amazing how fast the summer went and that we are knocking at the door for August.

My current project is the Barn Star Quilt-A Soldiers Star. The fabric was purchased at Quilted Twins. This store has beautiful and quality fabrics at fantastic prices.

If you are ever in the Dade City, FL, take the time to check them out. The staff is so friendly and very helpful. It will be worth the stop but check their website for the days that they are open to the public.

I chose the quilt pattern due to my love of the chic farmhouse decorating. The fabrics for the quilt were chosen to go with the colors in my bedroom. I just love navy and gray together.

Back to the quilt, this pattern was fun to pull together, and it was very easy to follow the instructions. I was able to download the pattern from their site with no issues. My colors are different from their pattern, so I had to write in what colors that I was using on the star to avoid confusion. The quilt size is 92×92 so it will fit on my queen size bed.

When I was cutting out the quilt, I labeled the sizes since they were pretty close in size. At times, when sewing the pattern together, the squares got turned around and had to “unstitch”.

My next step is to start the quilting process. At this time, I am planning to outline the stars and will decide if I want to do additional quilting. I do this on my sewing machine, so it is more challenging due to the size of the quilt. If you have any suggestions, let me know. I love hearing from my readers.
