Happy Saturday!
Well, the skirt is now done, I have mixed feelings about the results. The fabric kept leaving a blue dye on my hands even after washing the fabric twice. Next time, the fabric will be washed multiple times before sewing.
Here are the things that did not go as expected. I used all-purpose thread for the top stitching on the pockets and the front of the skirt, but the stitches disappeared into the knit. Solution will be using embroidery thread. In the picture below, you can see how the stitches disappeared.
The fabric also would run and show nicks, which made me less willing to pull out some of my mistakes. Since this took a significant amount of time, will spend a little more on the fabric and make sure it is good quality.
Also, I used denim for the pocket lining instead of cotton. My thought was that I didn’t want the lining to be seen but unfortunately it caused some bulk.

The back of the skirt was fun. I really enjoyed embroidering the back pockets. Here is the picture of how it looks. You will also see again how some of the stitches disappeared in the top stitching across the back of the skirt.

As you can see this is not perfect but yes, I will be wearing this skirt. Just having knowledge of what I will do the next time. Have you ever worked with stretch denim? Let me know some of your favorite tips. In the meantime, happy sewing.
