New Look A6394 Blouse aka UFO

Happy Saturday –

This is one of my UFO’s. No, this has nothing to do with space or Star Wars, but it commonly referred to in the sewing world as an unfinished object. I believe that I have 4 UFO’s. My goal is to have this blouse completed this week.

The pattern is from New Look and the fabric is a polyester cotton. The pattern pieces had to be laid out so that we could match up the stripes. As for the instructions, yes it was easy to follow.

You probably are thinking, if you like the fabric and the pattern was easy, what is the hold up? The hold up has been the excitement of other projects and the buttons. This is the last step on this blouse, everything else is done. I guess that I am suffering from the “fear of messing up”. As I have previously posted, mistakes do happen, and I have to remind myself this is actually a learning experience not a setback.

I have now purchased a sewing gauge for buttons on Amazon. It expands, so I can evenly mark the buttonholes. This can also be used in putting in hooks, snaps, smocking, clothing and drapery pleats. I will let you know how I like using this tool next week. This may help me overcome my dread for putting in buttons.

Do you have any UFO’s at home? Let me know what steps you have taken to finish your projects.

Keep on Sewing,

Valerie
