Chai Tea from Liesl + Company

Happy Saturday –

This cute pattern was found at my local quilt shop. Usually, sticking to McCall’s, Simplicity and Butterick patterns so working on a pattern outside of my normal spiked my interest. The description on the pattern states the tee brings a touch of elegance to every day with its shoulder yokes and pleats with its feminine shaping. How can you resist that type of description for a shirt?

The fabric was left over from my knit dress, and it was just enough. The biggest problem was trying to determine which side of the fabric was the wrong side or the right side. There was hardly a difference.

The pattern instructions were written well. Impressively the neck binding laid on the shirt nicely with no sagging and the binding covered all exposed seems which gave a professional look to the shirt. The pattern suggested using a walking foot to put in the neck binding this was new to me, only used the foot previously for quilting. This really made a big difference and will be using this suggestion moving forward.

I would agree this t-shirt definitely raises the bar and would definitely be sewing this again for the summer. It can easily work as a shirt for the office or for the weekend. After sewing this pattern, will need to look at more patterns from Liesl & Company.

Let me know if you have found a new pattern company outside of three big ones. After working with this one, I am more willing to try some more.

Happy Sewing!

Valerie
