Creating My Dream Sewing Room

Happy Saturday –

This past several months, I have been working on my sewing room. This has been a dream for some time and feel very fortunate to finally have my own room. Over the years, my sewing area has moved from a corner of a bedroom to the kitchen table. It has also been in the front room and in the living room. Now, I finally have a room to sew and cut. I can then just close the door when I have projects everywhere. This is convenient when I don’t want to put everything away.

For Christmas, my husband made my sewing table and a cutting table utilizing bookshelves. I wish we had made the table as long and wide as the cutting mat. We should have sanded the top of the sewing table a couple more times before painting. Overall, I am very pleased with the results. Hindsight is beautiful.

One of my wall decorations is a panel that was purchased from Missouri Quilts. The colors in the panel matched the room and matched me. The fabric was cut and glued on the canvas. I had flashbacks to kindergarten while gluing these canvases because of the amount of glue on my fingers. The larger canvas 16. x 20 was purchased at Hobby Lobby and the smaller canvases 4 x12 were purchased at Michaels.

The last thing that was added was a project board, which was also purchased from Hobby Lobby. I had considered making a quilting wall board utilizing insulation boards and covering it with flannel. This maybe something that I consider later but I do more sewing than quilting and it felt more practical.
