Free Pattern, Quilt Pattern Review

Fresh Diamonds Quilt

Happy Saturday –

This beautiful quilt pattern was found on Pinterest at sameliasmum.com. The design was fun to put together and the pattern was free, so this was a Win! Win! The solid fabric is white Kona and the floral print fabric was purchased at my local quilting shop, Tilted Quilters.

The floral print was not in a charm pack, so I cut out the 78 squares into 5×5 squares. In retrospect, if I did this pattern again, I would definitely purchase a charm pack or a layered cake for the variety of prints.

The biggest challenge was laying it out, each diamond had 12 squares. It is a must to lay out the entire quilt before sewing. The pieces were laid out on my cutting table. At times the design stumped me, so I had to pull in the husband. My cat also decided to sit on my squares and started to play with them which caused a few panicky moments.

Once the quilt design was laid out, I sew the pattern together row by row and pressed out the quilt top. Then layered the quilt with the backing, batting and then the quilt top to start the embroidery process. The embroidery design was from my Ruby Viking software. The floral design was placed inside of each diamond, even the half diamonds and then I outlined each diamond. Trimmed up the quilt, bind and then it was completed.

Yes, this is definitely a pattern that I would do again and thank you Anorina, for such a beautiful design. Let me know of some quilt patterns that you are working on.

Happy Sewing!

Valerie
