Completed New Look – Gingham Blouse

Happy Saturday!

Hope that your week is going well. We just got back from Daytona and the weather was gorgeous. We were able to see the sun rise as we walked on the beach this morning. It was great start for the weekend.

Update on the blouse, it is done. This is the first time that I put a tuck in the sleeve. The directions on putting in the tuck was clear. It didn’t make sense at first but just decided to follow the process. At one point, I thought the tuck was on the wrong side and actually took out half the tuck before I realized that it was correct. The picture of the sleeve is below. When encased the tuck, I utilized the 1/4-inch foot so that the seam was straight.

Buttonholes has also been my challenge and I usually avoid making clothes with buttons. New Look supplied patten piece to show where to mark the blouse. Marked the buttonholes on the blouse utilizing tracing pattern. In order to avoid problems, ran couple of practice buttonholes on scrap fabric from this blouse. Wanted to make sure that the buttonholes would run smoothly with the same fabric. Once I felt comfortable, I went ahead and ran the holes on the shirt.

Overall, I am pleased with the results from the shirt and looking forward to wearing this since the weather is starting to get warmer. What projects are you working on to get gready for spring?

Please feel free to comment, I love to hear from my readers.

Sincerly,

Valerie
