Update on the Pleated Dress

Happy Saturday!

I hope you are staying warm. We Floridians have had a cold streak and I am so ready to see some warmer weather. I know some of you folks in the northern states would have no pity on us, but we are not used to it.

On this post, I want to show you behind the scenes instead of just showing the finished project. At times, I feel that we only show the finished “perfect” project, but we don’t show the mistakes that we have made and what we did to correct them.

Here is an update on the dress –

The first is the invisible zipper, you will see from this video that I sewed too close to the teeth when stitching in the zipper. This kept the zipper from going all the way to the bottom. I had to carefully remove the stitches and restitch the area.

Once the zipper issue was resolved. I put the project on the dress form to see how it would look. You will see from this picture, that the sides are not sewn so the dress is pulling in all different directions.

Below, is a picture of where I am at currently. I just need to do some pressing in the pocket area and then add the bias tape to the sleeves and it is done. I decided with the type of fabric that I used, that it would pair nicely with sweater so there are no sleeves.

Overall, I am very happy with the dress. I am looking forward to wearing it. Let me know what projects you are working on.

Happy Saturday!
