Happy Saturday –
Tis the season for weddings. I just attend a bridal shower for one our dear friends. I really wanted to personalize their wedding gift. The embroidery design came from Etsy. It was a perfect design for my project.
The pillow inserts and fabric was purchased at Joann’s. The pillow inserts were 16 inches which is a great size for the couch or bed. The fabric was a cut 18x 18 inches with four pieces.
The fabric was very light so I supported the embroidery stitches by stiffening the fabric with a heavy stabilizer. Once the embroidery was completed, I serged all the raw edges and put in a zipper. In years past, I would hand stitched the opening together after stuffing the pillow but I found that over time and washing that the stitches would come out.
I used the center zipper for this project but the next time, I will use an invisible zipper. Once the zipper was stitched into place, I sewed the three sides together, wrong sides together and pressed. The pillow was turned to the right side, trimmed and pushed out the corners.
I really enjoyed making this gift. It was fun to make and the embroidery design turned out beautifully. I hope the brides enjoys the gift.
Let me know what gifts that you are sewing for weddings. How are you personalizing the gifts?
