Happy Saturday –
We are enjoying the beautiful spring weather in Florida. It is so much fun finding and sewing fabric that have the spring colors. I have more ideas in my head for sewing projects than I have time.
This is my very first fully lined dress. The fabric was purchased from JoAnns. The pattern called for a lined bodice but since the fabric is so light, we decided to go ahead and line the skirt.

The lining around the neckline had interface to stabilize the neck area. Lining the outfit was not hard. You basically are doing the same steps as the dress as you do for the lining.
It was a little challenging putting in the invisible zipper with the lining. The invisible zipper was initially put on the dress without including the lining. Once the zipper was in, you put the rights sides of the lining and dress together and sew a 1/2 inch from the zipper. Once completed, you would turn the lining to the inside. It turned out beautifully.
Here is where I strayed from the instructions. Instead of basting the bodice lining to the waistline seam, I attached it the skirt lining. The hem lining was shortened about 1 inch shorter than the dress hem. At the kick pleat, I attached the lining to the skirt kick pleat. This was to avoid having the lining show when walking.
The dress was for my daughter in California. It is always challenging to sew for someone across the county. She provided the measurements and I set dress form to the measurements.

It appears that we were successful. What fashions for spring are you sewing?
