Happy Saturday-
Denim is one of my favorite things to wear. I own an old denim jacket that still fits but the color was fading. I remembered trying to dye things years ago and the results were disappointing. With nothing to lose, I decided to give it one more try.
I have to admit there was some concern about using my washer to dye the fabric. I really don’t want to have the next several loads of laundry the same color as my jacket.
In abundance of caution, ran the wash thru and then set the washer for an extra rinse. Did a trial run and washed my husbands work clothes. If they came out a little blue, no one would notice.
Here is the before and after pictures.
The denim came out beautifully. Surprisingly, there were no dye transferred to the next wash.
The embroidery design is from Embroidery Library. A couple of things, that came up with embroidery. The first is to stabilize the fabric. The fabric was denim, so I thought it would be heavy enough. I was wrong. The second is when doing a large embroidery start with full bobbin. The bobbin ran out. I went to change it out and the jacket popped out of the hoop. Yikes, it took some time in getting everything lined back up.
Because the jacket popped out of the hop, the center of the flowers were slightly off. Instead of taking the stitches out, I glued sequences on them. Everyone needs a little bling.

Have you refashioned an old garment. Let me know some of the projects that you have done.
