Happy Saturday!

It is raining here in Florida and it makes a perfect day to stay in and sew.  Of course, any day that you get to stay home, is a great day to sew.

IThe fabric is from my stash that I have had for several months.   It was purchased at the Sewing Studio Fabric in Maitland, FL.   This store has a large selection of quilt, apparel fabric and notions.  I love to go in this store and just browse, when I am in town.

The pattern was easy to follow and put together.  The fabric did have a tendency to slip  so I used more pins  to keep it together.   On the neckline,  I put two rows of stitches in to keep the neck facing laying down and to give a more professional look to the shirt.

The ruffle needed a narrow hem.  A time saver was to utilize a narrow hem foot.  This is a great accessory when you are working with fabric that is very thin and slippery.  I would practice getting the technique down on scrap fabric.  This is a foot that is definitely worth the cost in purchasing.

Would I make this shirt again?  Yes, definitely. I like having the ruffle on the blouse especially since I am short-waisted.

Simplicity tends to be my go to patterns.  They are often on sale at Joann’s and their directions are easy to follow.

What are some of your favorite fabric patterns?
