Happy Saturday!
This was a scrap buster with fabric from previous projects. I have to admit this pillow came out a lot larger than expected but it does look nice sitting on my grandmother’s wedding chest.
Supplies Needed –
6 – 1/3 yards of different patterns of cotton fabric
1/2 yard for the side and center piece of the pillow
Fiber Fill
Optional –
Embroidery design for the center or a large fabric covered button
Cutting Directions –
Cut 16 of each pattern 8 inches long using the 10° Ruler
Cut 2 strips 4.5 inches wide at the WOF
Cut 2 – 8 inch circles
Lay out your pieces in the order. I try to alternate between dark and light fabric.

Go ahead and take 8 pieces of each pattern and stitch together at 1/4 inch. Once it makes the circle, press out the seams. You will need to do this twice for the front and back of the pillow. This will make two large circles and it will look like a donut.
At this point, I embroidered the center of the 8 inch circle. This is optional. Once this is completed, stitch the circle to the center of the circle{the middle of your donut). Do this for the front and back of the pillow. If you want, stitch an applique stitch around the circle. I did struggle a little with the applique stitch.
Sew the 2 – 4.5 piece together on one end. Leave about 2 inches of the fabric before stitching this piece to the outside of a circle. When the two ends meet, cut off the excess. Stitch the two ends together and finish adding it to the large circle. Repeat this for the back, but leave an opening large enough to get your hand in.
Press out your seams, turn the pillow inside out and start filling in the pillow. If you have little ones, have them help fill in the pillow. When my kids were younger, they thought it was cool to stuff pillows. Those were the days.
Hand stitch the opening close. I hope you enjoy this tutorial. If you have some scrap buster ideas, let me know.
