Patriotic Quilt

Happy Saturday!

My normal Saturday posts have been somewhat sporadic.  We have a couple of our college kids home for the summer.  As much as we love having them  home, it has made it a little more challenging to get to the sewing machine.  Especially since my sewing room is currently being used as a bedroom.

Despite the challenges, I am starting on my newest project.  As each one of my daughters have gone to college, I have made a quit for them.  My last one is leaving in the fall and she has requested a Patriotic quilt.   We could not find a pattern that suited her so we have decided to make our own pattern.

A large portion of the quilt will be in a chevron pattern.   It will be designed,  as we go until we get our finished results or until she is happy.   I will be taking notes,  so if you are interested in making the quilt, the steps will be outlined with the finished dimensions.

I love sewing because you are not limited by one person’s ideas.  You can take a couple of good ideas and make a garment, purse, home décor or a quilt that suits your tastes.  There are no limits in colors, combinations or designs.  They are all available at our fingertips.

Have you ever designed your own quilt or drafted your own pattern?  Let me know if you have any tips.
