Simplicity Blouse 1106

Happy Saturday!

We are starting to warm up in  Florida and I am ready to start wearing some spring colors.  The fabric for this top was purchased at the Sewing Expo from Vogue Fabrics.  I paid $3.99 a yard and the fabric was about 60 inches in width.  It was a fantastic deal.

The pattern recommend to use a contrast fabric for the back insert.  This fabric had a border so I cut the insert from the border.

The pattern was easy to follow.  The results did look like the pattern displayed on the envelope.  The top came together quickly.

When I cut out the blouse, I rounded the neck because it  would be too low in the front for my taste.  I also took an additional 1 1/2 inches off the hem since I am vertically challenged.  This is the beauty of sewing, you can be the designer.

Since the fabric is little slippery, I used wonder tape to keep the fabric laying flat while stitching.  I am in love with this tape because it saves me time and keeps everything in place.

I will definitely use this pattern again.  Let me know your favorite top pattern.
