Happy Saturday!
This weekend, I attended The Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Lakeland, FL. We were there for three days and had so much fun. This expo has everything from apparel fabric, zippers, stabilizers, quilting fabric, embroidery, sewing machines, sergers and just about everything in between. The best part of the expo is that it does not matter if are just learning to sew, or if you have been sewing for decades. The expo has something for you.
Here are a list of some of my favorite vendors. The Scissor Man with Famore Cutlery, Fabric Warehouse, Vogue Fabrics and The Sewing Studio/Fabric Super Store. If you buy your scissors from Famore Cutlery, they will sharpen your scissors every year for free. If you love quality fabrics at bargain prices head over to the Vogue Fabrics and The Sewing Studio.
The shopping is fun but you need to go to classes. My favorite lecture class was with Connie Palmer, “Notions You Can’t Sew Without”. The expo also offers, hands on classes. The vendors from the show provide sewing machines, so you are not lugging your machine to class. This year I attended a quilting class, Metro Medallion and a serger class, The Cocoon Cardigan. I learned tips and techniques and enjoyed using top of the line machines.
If you have a passion for sewing, look for expos in your area. Here is the link https://www.sewingexpo.com/Default.aspx.
