- Set your budget. The sewing machines prices vary greatly. You can spend as little as $100.00 for a machine or up to $10,000.00. If you are just starting out, I would definitely start on the lower end. Maybe consider borrowing a machine from a friend. The most important thing is to know how much money you want to spend . Also, ask the vendor if they have any used machines. Customers who want to upgrade, will turn in their old machine to get the newest machine. You can benefit from the savings, just because it was previously used.
- Decide what features that you want on your machine. Do you want to do embroidery? Will you be quilting? Do you want the machine to automatically set the tension? Or automatically cut your threads? The best advice is to go to several dealers, and check out their machines before buying.
- I would buy from a dealer that is close to home. There are going to be times when you are working on a project and there is an issue. It is so convenient to get to the store to find out the problem.
- Find a dealer that has classes. These classes are an invaluable tool to learn how to use your machine. You will learn different techniques and what do with all those feet that come with the machine
- Review the warranty’s on the machines. If you are going to invest in the machine, make sure the vendor is willing to stand behind their product.
I hope these tips help. Let me know if you have any other tips.
